Please allow me introduce myself, I’m… Who am I? The automatic answer is to say Steve, my moniker since birth. Over the last six years, I’m also been Scribe, which is descriptive of what I am as well as who. It’s my name: Scribe. Lots of burners know me simply as Scribe, from my early Opulent Temple campmates to my most recent girlfriend, who cooed it into my ear with natural ease. But one never really gets used to introducing themselves by their playa name, not really. It sticks in the throat a little, even a name as comfortable and well-worn as mine, Scribe. No manner how many times I’ve delivered it, or how casually, even though it certainly is my name at this point. So let me try something a little more formal: I’m Steven T. Jones. You can Google it, or just click over to my website, and if you can navigate these here computers thingees better than I can, you’ll be able to find thousands of articles that I’ve written under that name during my 20-year career writing for newspapers in California. People ask what the T stands for, and I’ll usually tell them “The.” And it’s true, as far as you know at this point, but again, you computer whizzes might be able to figure out that it isn’t really true. Still, I am Steven The Jones, as well as Steve, Steven T. Jones, and Scribe. I really am pleased to meet you, all of you. And maybe tomorrow, I’m even start telling you about a book I wrote that starts rolling off the presses in a couple weeks, as well as updating you about even more recent developments involving its characters, themes, and story. So check back…
