Upton, MA: The sight lines from the Upton chamber align with the summer solstice sunset and the setting of the Pleiades in mid-April, which traditionally marked the time to plant. Archaeologists James Mavor and Byron Dix, whose study of the site was published in the 1980s, found the chamber and Pratt Hill alignments corresponded exactly to the sky of 710 CE.

South Royalton, VT: It has been suggested that one or more of the Vermont stone chambers were ancient Celtic prototypes whose architectural form was copied again and again by later Vermont farmers. Other chambers are located in the hills around South Royalton, VT, including “Oliver’s Cave” and other stone chambers.
